We took a little ride towards evening. As we headed toward Solon, I tried to capture the beautiful sky on my camera. "Red sky at night-sailor's delight; red sky in the morning-fisherman's warning."

Here's a cutie we saw along the way... She insisted on having her picture taken!
These are "beaded beads" that I made today. They are big beads that are composed of small seed beads that are stitched together. The bicone-shaped beads are made from the tubular herringbone stitch. The spiky ones are made by a series of fringe stitches.

One more day...

One day left till Halloween. Do you have your costume selected? Better get with it if you don't--time's a wasting!

I've been working on some more "beaded Beads" today. I made some "spiky" beaded beads too. I'll post them soon.

Two more days...

These are "beaded beads" I made with the tubular herringbone stitch. The "beads" are composed of Czech glass beads in the middle of the design, Japanese Miyuki seed beads, and again my favorite opaque stripe Czech seed beads.

This was a difficult one to photograph! It is a Beadazzled Bracelet that I made with 22k white gold electroplate lavender teal rose iris. Yep, that's what the color is called of the size 11 Toho seed beads used in the bracelet. Time for bed...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A Friday Finish...

I finally finished the peyote bracelet I work on whenever I get a few minutes.
The main body is done with size 11 Delica beads and the picot edging is done with size 15 rounds. I really like working with the delica beads-they "snap" together so nicely. It is one of my favorite stitches, at least it is today. I like how the colors shine together in this bracelet. Click on the pics if you'd like to see it up close...

Thursday Trivia...

To make things easier while mixing the American Graffiti sound track, George Lucas and sound designer Walter Murch labeled all of the film reels R and all of the dialogue tracks D, and then numbered each of them sequentially, starting with 1. When Murch later asked Lucas for Reel 2 Dialogue 2 - or more precisely, R2 D2 - Lucas liked the way it sounded so much that he made a note of the name for another project he was writing.

A Morning Walk...

Here is a tree that is still beautiful in the park outside my condominium. It is 62 degrees out and wonderful blue skies. It is a picture perfect day being enjoyed by myself and many others on the walking trail this morning. Here's hoping that wherever you are today, you can enjoy some time outdoors.

...another gorgeous tree along the trail!

A Cool Autumn Evening

...near sunset over Lake Macbride.

I was playing with some of my favorite beads when this square stitch bracelet evolved...

Caterpillar class today... These "beautiful beginnings" were done by Kimberly (red bracelet) and Karol (blue bracelet). Really nice work ladies! For more detail-click on the picture.
Here is my finished Lentil Spiral Bracelet.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

I teach a beginning class today called the "Spiral Weave Stitch." While reviewing for my class, I came up with this variation of the basic spiral stitch using Czech Lentils, Miyuki size 8 seed beads, and size 11 seed beads. I photographed it at an angle so that you can see the different dimensions and visual effects of the weave. Click on the photo if you'd like to see the detail on these "lovely, little, Czech lentils." Stay tuned for the finished project...

Here's a picture I took today from the shore of Lake Macbride State Park. It was towards sunset and the sunbeams were beautifully shining on the color-laden trees. Click on the pic to see detail and you can even see the colors reflecting in the water...

Sun today! Wish I was outside...

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air."

"Beadazzled" Bead Store...

Here is Jeanette Kinney's store, BEADAZZLED, in Chattanooga Tennessee! You must stop in and visit-what a great store! While I was there, Jeanette shared with me a beautiful bracelet she had created. Jeanette is such a kind, talented lady. She graciously gave me permission to teach the bracelet she showed me. I named the bracelet in her honor...
Here is my "Beadazzled" bracelet. It's a great fluid bracelet-and worth the time to create! It was fun sharing the stich last night in class. The ladies did a fantastic job mastering the technique and starting their own "Beadazzled" creations!
This is Rose's start of her bracelet...aren't the colors great! (It's even more stunning in person-the camera really does not give it justice!) Rose used Cranberry Gold Luster for the size 11 beads and Dark Topaz Rainbow for the Hex beads...great combo!

Wheee, I'm just back from my trip to St. Louis and had a great time! I promise to answer emails in the next couple of days...right now I am heading for my pillow and covers!

My son, Matt, was home this weekend and besides getting ready for St. Louis and Vail, watching squirrels from the patio, visiting and catching up on things-we went to the Airport Road Golf Course where it was a beautiful (although a little breezy) afternoon!
...and here's Matt teeing off. What form!
